Description
The story of Arne Slot's first season at Anfield is one packed with incredible goals, unforgettable victories and emotional scenes as title number 20 was clinched. For the first time since 1990, players, staff and supporters could celebrate together as champions.
The quality and consistency of the Reds' football rarely let up after an opening-day victory at Ipswich Town, carrying them to an ultimately emphatic Premier League success – sealed with four matches to spare on an afternoon of pure joy against Tottenham Hotspur.
A campaign of huge celebration was, though, touched by sudden and unimaginable tragedy due to the deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, just weeks after Liverpool lifted the trophy.
Devastating for everyone connected to the club, tributes from around the world reflected the respect and admiration he had earned from so many. His final goal – a winner in the Merseyside derby – was just one of his outstanding and crucial contributions on the journey to glory.
He will be forever our number 20.
