About the artist
South Park Mexican began rapping in the early 90s, and in 1995 he released his debut album Hillwood under Dope House Records, a label he started with his brother, Arthur Coy Jr. He followed this album up with Hustle Town, Power Moves, and The 3rd Wish: To Rock The World, and The Purity Album. In 2000, he signed a million-dollar deal with Universal, releasing Time Is Money and Never Change.
In July 2000, Houston police officials appeared at the headquarters of Dope House Records with court orders for Coy which involved a lawsuit filed by a twenty year old woman who claimed that he impregnated her when she was thirteen. She later demanded child support payments from him. After a DNA paternity test was done, Coy was proven to be the father of the child and was ordered to pay the victim and her son $28,000 in unpaid child support as well as various other fees.
On 25 September 2001, he was arrested by Houston police on a charge of sexual assault on a nine year old girl that happened earlier that month. Soon after, Universal dropped him from their label. In March 2002, he was further charged with the sexual assault of two fourteen year old girls in a hotel room. On 8 May 2002, his trial began, and on 18 May 2002 he was found guilty of aggravated sexual assault and was later sentenced to 45 years in prison and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine. The earlier July 2000 lawsuit was also used as evidence for the case.
His first parole eligibility hearing began on 7 October 2024 and his request was denied on 13 January 2025. His next parole hearing is scheduled for January 2028.
While incarcerated, he has released 7 albums and 1 compilation album, and from 2016-2018 he released multiple singles with Dope World Entertainment.
He is the father of Carley Coy, Carlos Coy II, and J.D. Coy
