About the artist
Underoath is a post-hardcore band from Tampa, Florida, formed in november 1997. They broke up in january 2013 but reformed in 2015.
Their first albums featured a hardcore/metal sound with strong death/black metal influences. They rose to fame with "They're Only Chasing Safety" (2004), moving into emo-pop territory and consolidating their current line-up, of which only drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie remains. To date, the band has released ten studio albums, experimenting with varied influences as industrial, electronic, groove, ambient, and post-metal.
The band was frequently referred to as a Christian band, and while some are Christians, they have publicly distanced from that label, expressed in their album "Erase Me" (2018).
