About the artist
Fromis 9 (Hangul: 프로미스나인 or 프로미스 9; initialism for From Idol School; stylized as fromis_9) is a South Korean girl group formed by CJ E&M through the reality show Idol School. They made their debut on January 24, 2018, with the mini album "To. Heart". The team is currently active under the label ASND, after a management change in 2025.
fromis_9 initially debuted with nine members. Jang Gyuri left in July of 2022, after the expiration of her contract. The departures of Roh Ji-sun, Lee Sae-rom & Lee Seo-yeon were confirmed in January 2025, after the group changed labels, from HYBE to ASND.
The team currently consists of five idols: Lee Chae-young, Park Ji-won, Song Ha-young, Lee Na-gyoung & Baek Ji-heon
The group's name has multiple meaning: their name is a shortening of the phrase "FROM Idol School", but it's also a play on the fact that in Korean, the letter "F" is pronounced as a "P", so the group's name is pronounced as "promise", which represents the group's ideal "to keep their promise to be the best girl group".
